It is with sadness that Belle Isle acknowledges the passing of Sarah Graydon McCrory on October 24, 2017 in West Columbia. She and her husband, Marvin (Mac) McCrory owned a unit at Belle Isle for many years and long-time residents will remember her. Among many notable accomplishments, Sarah McCrory was responsible for Battery White being placed on the National Register of Historic Places. She prepared the application, followed through and sponsored the plaque dedication held at the old Belle Isle Yacht Club. During the early days of the development of Belle Isle, Sarah was instrumental in increasing the public's awareness of the historical role of Belle Isle and Battery White.
